Stamp Duty Help for First Time Buyers
Posted 24/03/2010
The Chancellor has announced today that first time buyers will not have to pay stamp duty if the property is less than £250,000. This relief will be effective as of midnight tonight until the 25th March 2012.
Please note this only applies to First Time Buyers, not all purchase transactions under £250,000.00. If you are a couple, you must both be First Time Buyers. You must also intend to occupy the property as your only or main residence.
In order to qualify as a 'First Time Buyer' you must not have previously owned a major interest in land, including residential property, or an equivalent interest anywhere in the world.
